Former KU Law Grad hosting entertainment law CLE:

Hello,

My name is Tyler Emerson. I am a KU Law grad (L'13), former member of SELS, and practicing sports and entertainment attorney. I currently split my time between Los Angeles and Kansas, representing clients and matters including Olympic athletes and award-nominated filmmakers and musicians.

I will be moderating and teaching an Entertainment Law Primer CLE in Wichita on the morning of Friday, October 16. It will be focus on film, television and new media in the areas of intellectual property, business law, and labor and employment law. It has also been certified with an hour of ethics that focuses on lawyers, agents and managers in the industry, as well as navigating conflicts of interest. There will be two filmmakers on the panel, as well.

This would be a good opportunity for any students who want an opportunity to learn some basic practical frameworks for the entertainment business, as well as an opportunity to network with attorneys and filmmakers (known in my line of work as "potential clients") as it coincides with the Tallgrass Film Festival.

More information will be available through the Wichita Bar Association. I simply wanted to reach out and let your members know of this opportunity.

Thank you,

Tyler Emerson
