Sometimes I get asked why I started Smoky Mountain Offender Tracking.. and yes while the obvious answer is the same as what any business owner gives.. its also a passion project.. and most of it is very personal.. and it was three fold..
1) Save Lives
2) Provide Shelters with our some of our profits ..

Did you know?

About 25–37% of domestic violence survivors report that their abuser threatened to harm or kill a pet.
About 26–29% report that their abuser actually harmed or killed a pet.
In studies of women residing in domestic violence shelters (who often represent more severe abuse cases), the percentages are much higher:
52–53% reported threats to pets.
54% reported pets were actually hurt or killed.

And thus why just providing GPS ANKLE MONITORING SERVICES AND VICTIM NOTIFICATION IS NOT ENOUGH BECAUSE

It is my dream that one day.. SMOT is profitable to the point that we can use some of our profits to build these villages.. these villages of hope, and safe haven.. heck we may even teach those without job skills to raise service dogs, or have one built on the concept of therapeutic farming.. We spent part of Friday night with Joey Ruffalo ( and his lovely other half) at The Prosperity Lounge and WJBZ Praise 96.3 FM talking about Service of Process, the Debbie and Marie Domestic Violence Prevention Act, and our State of the Art Ankle Monitoring System, as well as BacTrack Alcohol Monitoring.. Thanks so much Joey for allowing us to talk about saving lives in the criminal courts and the function we serve in the Civil Courts. It was an amazing time and I hope we can do it again sometime!

THIS.. IN TENNESSEE.. We now have with the passage of the Debbie and Marie Domestic Violence Prevention Act a real chance at preventing HORRIBLE stories LIKE THIS.. BUT we are still lacking because the law goes to the county executives who really dont have a dog in the race and are unclear about what role the law has lain out for them..
It is still lacking because enforcement of the now very strict million dollar coverage for provider companies, FBI background checks for all employees, no bail bonds persons being involved, and 24 hour vigilence. We will not even get into the fact that most providers are using technology that is 30 years old. We finally have the capabilities of really stopping DV IN OUR STATE.. BUT we must get it together and implement it properly.
