Traffic tends to pick up during the summer months, making it even more important to stay alert behind the wheel. Since August is National Traffic Safety Month, we're sharing a few simple reminders to help keep you, your passengers and everyone on the road safe.
*Stay aware of your surroundings. Watch for pedestrians, cyclists, motorcycles, and other vehicles—especially in busy areas, school zones, and construction zones.
*Drive distraction-free. Put your phone away and keep your focus on the road.
*Leave plenty of space. Maintaining a safe following distance gives you more time to react to unexpected stops.
*Follow speed limits and traffic signals. Obeying the rules of the road helps prevent unnecessary crashes.
*Yield when required. Always give pedestrians and other drivers the right of way when the law requires it.
*Be prepared. Keep your vehicle well-maintained and have an emergency kit on hand for unexpected situations.
A few extra moments of caution can make all the difference. Drive safely and help make our roads safer for everyone!
