SEEKING LEGAL ASSISTANT
JBJ Legal is seeking to add a legal assistant to our employment and business law practice. JBJ Legal is an energetic, growing, boutique firm in downtown Indianapolis representing small and medium sized companies and individuals with corporate transactions, business and contract disputes, and employment matters. Our clients are diverse and fascinating, including independent restauranteurs, healthcare providers, tech startups, professional athletes, multi-generational family businesses, angel investors, distilleries, and executives around the country.
This role involves supporting both the transactional and litigation practice groups, and will also provide back up for office manager and receptionist duties occasionally. Depending on a candidate’s experience and interest, duties may include:
• Draft, edit, and proofread legal documents, including sale and acquisition agreements, leases, corporate contracts, corporate compliance filings, motions, written discovery and pleadings
• Assist with client relations, including onboarding, opening matters, billing, and scheduling
• Maintain calendars, dockets, and manage deadlines for both transactional and litigation tasks
• Assist with Corporate Transparency Act filings
• Manage preparation, assembly and compilation of documents for business and real estate closings and private securities offerings
• Prepare and facilitate discovery, motions, and electronic filing in state and federal court using Bluebook legal citation format, in compliance with court rules
This position requires:
• At least three years of relevant experience in a corporate transactional or civil litigation practice; or, similar experience with an in-house legal or compliance department
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products; familiarity with Smokeball or similar document and practice management systems a plus
• A willingness to learn new things, take ownership of responsibilities, and work collaboratively on a wide variety of cases, types of clients, legal issues, and personalities
