“In sickness and in health…” Mariz honored her wedding vows by seeking to reunite
with her disabled U.S. citizen husband in the United States, where she could be by his side and care for him. The problem is, how could her husband, a disabled person,
satisfy for an Affidavit of Support?

Leading immigration lawyer Michael J. Gurfinkel guided the couple through the legal process, helping make that reunion possible. Today, Mariz and Nathan are finally together, as a testament to love, dedication, and the importance of helping families overcome immigration barriers so they can face life's challenges together.

This Sunday’s CITIZEN PINOY episode is a reminder that immigration is more than just legal processes—it's about keeping families together when they need each other most.

Did you know your family can petition you for jobs like caregivers or housekeepers?

You don't always need a highly specialized degree to qualify for an employment-based Green Card. Family members can sponsor you for unskilled jobs, providing a legal pathway to the U.S.

Atty. Michael J. Gurfinkel explains how this process works.

Jackie visited her sister in the U.S. in 2001. After seeing how her sister struggled to care for her kids while holding down a nursing job, Jackie decided to stay and help. After six months, however, Jackie fell out of status. A few months later, her father arrived in the U.S. as an immigrant and quickly petitioned her. While waiting for her petition, Jackie kept herself informed by watching “Citizen Pinoy" on TFC.

Over the years, Jackie had a couple of consultations with Atty. Michael J. Gurfinkel, who advised, "Let's wait for a change in law." Meanwhile, Jackie's father and petitioner was aging and, if something happened to him, everything could have been for naught. In 2016, the Provisional Waiver finally shed a light of hope on Jackie's case. Her trust and patience paid off when she received her green card in 2025.

Catch this Citizen Pinoy encore episode for an inspiring story of loyalty, faith, and perseverance…only on TFC!

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) recently announced it will revoke the U.S. passports of any person owing more than $2,500 in child support. If the person happens to be outside the U.S., they would not be able to use that passport to return to the U.S. This is because once a passport is revoked, it may no longer be used for travel.
