Part 2: Some will think Spirit Airlines just “shut down overnight.”
That’s not what happened.
They filed Chapter 11.They restructured. They tried again.
And still… life happened.
It wasn’t one thing… it was everything stacking up.And that’s exactly what we see with people too.
Bankruptcy didn’t cause the problem. It was the attempt to fix it.

I didn’t expect this one to hit the way it did… 💔✈️
Spirit Airlines made travel possible for so many families… ours included. And like so many people I talk to every day, they didn’t just “fail.” They tried to make it work first.
They filed Chapter 11. They restructured. They fought to stay afloat. Then life and circumstances happened to them too. Whether it’s a major airline or a family dealing with debt, bankruptcy usually comes after someone has already tried everything else.
Bankruptcy isn’t about failure.
It’s about recognizing when the structure no longer works…and choosing a reset.
Part 2 is where the full story really explains how their bankruptcy story actually played out. Stay tuned.

If you’re filing the same exemption every year…
you’re not fixing the problem …you’re pausing it.
There could be a better way through bankruptcy of actually resolving it for good.

Going in circles with minimum payments?

You’re not crazy.
That’s exactly how they’re designed.

If it feels like you’re stuck…
it might be time for a different way out.

Bankruptcy is a reset, not a failure.

Everyone wants to be debt-free… but let’s talk about reality for a second.
For most Americans, debt isn’t a failure… it’s part of how life is structured. Homes, cars, businesses… even high earners carry debt at some point.
Being debt-free is a goal.
It’s not a moral badge of honor.
What actually hurts people?
Shame. Silence. Judgment.
The law literally created bankruptcy because financial setbacks happen to good, hardworking people every single day.
Using it isn’t weakness.
It’s a reset. It’s clarity. It’s moving forward.
If you’re in it right now…. you are not alone, no matter what the trolls say.

NICU bills and childbirth debt are some of the most heartbreaking financial situations we see. No parent expects to leave the hospital with a baby and overwhelming medical debt.

The truth is, in many cases medical debt (including NICU bills) can be discharged in bankruptcy.

If you’re struggling after what should have been one of the happiest moments of your life, please know this: financial hardship after a medical crisis is incredibly common, and there are legal tools designed to help people get a fresh start.

That bonus you were excited about? It could actually change the timing of your bankruptcy filing.
The means test looks at the last six months before filing… so a year-end bonus, overtime spike, commission month, or one-time payout gets averaged in… even if you’re not earning that anymore.
Sometimes waiting 30 days makes a major difference.
Bankruptcy isn’t just about qualifying. It’s about strategy and timing.
If your income has fluctuated, don’t guess. Talk to someone who understands how the means test really works.

I hear this all the time:
“It’s charged off, so I don’t owe it anymore.”
I wish that were true. But it’s not.
When a credit card is “charged off,” it just means the bank moved it into a loss category on their books after several months of non-payment. It’s an accounting term, not debt forgiveness.
It does not mean:• the debt disappeared• you’re protected from a lawsuit• it can’t go to collections
In fact, many accounts are sold to debt buyers or turned into lawsuits after they’re charged off. That’s when judgments and garnishments can happen.
If something on your credit report says “charged off,” don’t ignore it thinking it resolved itself. Get clarity before it turns into something bigger.

📊 Federal court data doesn’t lie.
Bankruptcy filings in Florida’s Middle District (the second busiest bankruptcy district in the country!) are rising sharply.
And it’s not because people are reckless.
Here is what we are seeing personally, it’s because:
• Housing costs + insurance premiums are soaring
• Credit card balances are at record highs
• Interest rates have made minimum payments unmanageable
• People who have been “holding on” for years are reaching a breaking point
Bankruptcy numbers don’t rise in a vacuum.
They rise when real financial pressure builds in real people’s lives.
If you’re losing sleep over debt, you are not alone.
And ignoring it won’t make the math work.
There is a legal path forward.
