Selling real estate through probate is NOT the same thing as a person selling their own home. My job as an attorney for an Executor/Estate is to give them the tools - including recommendations relating to agents that I personally know their skills and abilities to sell property in these situations.

Clients never have to listen to me with my recommendations or advice. That is always their own choice. What is at stake is potential future liability if anything goes wrong with the transaction.

Let me just say this.

If you are not paying for someone’s services. YOU ARE THE PRODUCT and those nice and smiling faces are not on your side. They are on the side of the people who pay them.

I charge hourly rates. I am 100% transparent. My clients are my priority. I take ZERO kickbacks for any referral provided.

Train yourself to understand this. If someone had a “job” and you don’t have to pay them. Who is?

Do you know the attorney ethics mandate a written disclosure when a fee is paid by a third party to ensure that there is no confusion about who the client is and the loyalties demanded.

Today was just a really bad day for Justice in my world and I truly have no time for those who prey on the sick, elderly, dying, and dead.

So I’m taking my fight to the top. Maybe Minnie Mouse will help me get the message out.

This day is always special to me. Eleven years ago, I was leaving behind so much. Steady paycheck. Colleagues I saw every day. Routine that was….well, routine.

Now I have created over 1,400 estate plans. Helped guide Executor/Trustees through 475 estate administrations.

Turning 50 years old this June has made me realize how lucky I truly am that I took the leap of faith to do something different.

When I give talks, I always say that you only need to turn on the news every morning to see someone who wasn't planning on dying yesterday.

Case in point. So sad for the whole family, let alone a small child.

Everyone has an estate plan - that plan covers who gets MONEY. But there is so much more that just money. Who will be the guardian of that child? Is that person qualified and able to be the custodian of the money left behind?

Estate planning is NOT a luxury. It is essential. This is why my office has three tiered pricing. Am I bargain basement - nope. But I also know that every client of mine has never had a problem with their documents and so the aftermath was exactly as they wanted it to be.
