Since founding Burris Law in Detroit in 2016, Kelly has grown the business into a globally recognized law firm serving more than 600 clients. Did you know the Juneteenth flag tells a story with every part of its design carrying a special meaning?

Created in 1997 by Ben Haith, founder of the National Juneteenth Celebration Foundation, the flag has red, white, and blue colors that echo the American flag. Those colors recognize that formerly enslaved people and their descendants are, and always have been, Americans. The star represents Texas, where the last enslaved people were informed of their freedom in 1865. The starburst symbolizes a new beginning, and the arc reflects a new horizon of promise and opportunity.

Today, Burris Law joins communities across our country in honoring Juneteenth — a day of reflection on and celebration of freedom and equality.

We are especially proud to celebrate here in Detroit, where the Juneteenth Parade & Celebration is taking place today in Midtown, bringing the community together to honor Black history, culture, and resilience.

Burris Law was a Platinum Sponsor of the Golf FORE! Ellie's 13th Annual Rett Spectrum Clinic Golf Classic, held at the Lake Forest Country Club in Lake St. Louis.

The event benefits the Rett Spectrum Clinic, which provides care for individuals with Rett syndrome, and is inspired by Ellie McCool, whose continued courage helps raise awareness. The clinic is a collaboration between St. Louis Children's Hospital and WashU Medicine in St. Louis - a meaningful connection for Burris Law, as founder Kelly Burris and attorney Evan Sotiriou, who leads the firm’s St. Louis office, are both alumni of Washington University in St. Louis.

Burris Law was honored to support this meaningful cause alongside businesses and community members in the St. Louis area — and we had a strong showing on the golf course, too.

Evan was on the second-place team in the B-Flight, alongside his scramble teammates Scott Smith, Principal IP Counsel at Kindeva; Kevin Fields, Managing Director at Pampered Warrior Brands and former Patent Counsel at Boeing; and Hyunchul Ko, Executive VP and Head of the Ceramics Division at Wonik QnC.
