Did he finally stop paying, or was he gone too soon? 👻

Alimony questions can haunt you long after the divorce papers are signed, whether you’re the one writing the checks or the one counting on them. In Georgia, there’s no simple formula. Courts look at things like the length of the marriage, each spouse’s earning ability, the standard of living during the marriage, and what each person contributed, including caring for the home and children. 🎃

Some other things that might go bump in the night:
💀 Periodic alimony generally ends if either spouse dies or the receiving spouse remarries, unless your agreement says otherwise.
🕸️ Cohabitation with a new partner may be grounds to modify alimony.
🦇 A significant change in income may also open the door to a modification.

Every situation is different, and what you’ve heard from a friend or found online may not be what applies to you. Don’t let the unknown scare you to death. 🧛‍♀️
