If you’ve taken a look at the trees this week and wondered why they’re taking their sweet time—you're not crazy. I was wondering and did some basic research to find out why Autumn in New Hampshire is running on its own timeline this year. But who doesn't love Autumn?!

The good news? Leaf experts say this slow start is actually setting us up for incredible colors that will stick around way longer than usual.

Here’s the quick breakdown of what’s happening out there:

Hydrated trees = deeper colors: Thanks to all the rain we had earlier this year, the leaves are super healthy and holding on tight.

No "blink and you missed it" season: Crisp nights and warm days mean the leaves will change gradually, giving us weeks of peak views instead of a two-day flash.

Where to go right now: The Great North Woods is getting close to peak. The White Mountains will be hitting their stride over the next week or two (brace yourselves for the Kancamagus traffic!), and down here in central and southern NH, we'll see the best colors toward mid-to-late October.

THE SCAMMERS ARE SCAMMING
Someone stole the photos of one of our houses for sale and is advertising it online as a rental. A rent seeker lost some money and contacted me to confirm it was for rent-it is NOT for rent. Luckily, they didn't lose thousands, just a $50 deposit but these days every penny counts.
Unfortunately, this is happening everywhere and scammers are in pursuit so here's a few reminders of things to be aware of when looking for a rental.:
My number one piece of advice-stay off Craigslist!
• Never send money through Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Zelle, wire transfer, gift cards, or any other payment app before verifying the listing.
• Always see the property in person.
• If the rent seems too good to be true, it definitely is.
• When in doubt, call the listing brokerage directly.
* Double check the rental address through Google, if it's listed for sale it isn't for rent.
