A quick update on where we are with the office after the building fire:
We still have not been allowed access to the building as insurance investigations are ongoing. I am told that once those wrap up, decisions will be made as to whether we may be allowed into the office to retrieve records, computers, etc. The concern there would be whether the building is safe enough to enter.
The good news: we have regained some access to our phone systems! We are now able to receive incoming calls. Soon, we should be able to receive voicemails. We will also soon have access to a list of numbers that have called in since the fire; however, unless we are at some point able to enter the office to retrieve our communications bank, we will NOT be able to access voicemails from this past week. So if you have tried to contact us at the office number, please give us just a little more time and we will hopefully be able to contact you. If you know anyone who is a client who may not be aware of the fire, please let them know and ask them to call in. The office number - (812)376-6011 - is now able to receive incoming calls. For the time being, if you call and leave a voicemail, please also send me a DM here or an email at [email protected] to let me know that we missed your call.
Finally, for anyone with an active claim, we have been working with Social Security and have been told that they will work with us to waive any missed deadlines or anything of that nature as a result of the fire. We have regained some access to our computer data, but not all. So to the extent there are any problems, please rest assured that our first order of business was to make sure that your claim would not be negatively impacted. For whatever it’s faults, the SSA has been very willing to work with us to make sure no claimants suffer any consequences related to the fire.
Thanks for the outpouring of community support we have received! We count ourselves very lucky to be part of the Columbus business community and we are humbled by the many people - friends and strangers alike - who have reached out to offer support in any number of ways. We will be committed to looking for ways to pay it forward in the future.
