Attorney Sara Schiavone loves a challenge. She's an avid slalom water skier, wakesurfer, and snowboarder. She's crossing an item off her bucket list by going heli-boarding this January.

Sara's confidence and fearlessness also guide her pursuit of justice for her clients. She never backs down from unknown terrain.

Almost exactly one year ago, an explosion at the Farnsworth #4 orphan well in Wayne National Forest killed two workers and left three others including then-20-year-old rig hand Chazz Bates with catastrophic burns.

We filed a civil complaint this week stating it didn't have to happen this way. ODNR flagged the safety problems that caused this explosion, and nothing was done. Sacrificing safety is too great a cost.

Attorneys Spencer Hattemer, Sara Schiavone and Rex Elliott are representing Chazz in his fight for accountability.

Everyone has ways to decompress, and for attorney Ben Cooper, one way is pulling up NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration 's James Webb Space Telescope website to check out the newest images.

What captivates him isn't just the discoveries, it's the scale. A picture shows a snapshot of a galaxy billions of lightyears away, comprised of trillions of tiny dots that are stars. You can keep zooming in and in and in, past star after star, and still only be looking at one small corner of the sky.

It's endless, and spending time with that scale puts everything else - a hard case, a bad day - back into perspective. Visit the James Webb Space Telescope website for yourself: https://science.nasa.gov/mission/webb/

Co-founder Chip Cooper (Personal Injury Litigation), partner Bart Keyes (Product Liability Litigation), and partner Ben Cooper (Appellate Practice) were named "Lawyer of the Year" in Columbus, and were also named to The Best Lawyers in America® in their respective practice areas.

Co-founder Rex Elliott, Managing Partner Abby Chin, and partners Jeff Kenney and Lindsay Lawrence were also named to The Best Lawyers in America®. And attorneys Spencer Meador and Sara Schiavone earned spots on Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for Product Liability Litigation, Defendants and Personal Injury Litigation, Plaintiffs.

For us, these honors are about more than recognition. They're about what it means for our clients and our community: trust, accountability, and justice. And that's something worth celebrating.

Recent headlines out of Columbus are a reminder. Abuse by medical professionals and their support teams happens, and survivors deserve to be heard.

At Cooper Elliott, we know that coming forward takes extraordinary courage, and we meet that courage with everything we have. As experienced s*x abuse attorneys, we represent survivors throughout Ohio in civil cases against the individuals and institutions responsible for what happened to them.

We don’t just pursue compensation. We pursue the kind of accountability that results in real change and helps protect others.

This is what our office looks like every day. A big national firm would need a plane ride and a lot of scheduling to get a photo like this. We just walk down the hall. Most days, we even eat lunch together.

Bigger firms view success by taking on high volume. It's about the numbers, and generating a profit. But Columbus is home for us. The people we represent aren't case files, they're our neighbors.

There are firms that talk about taking care of their clients, and there are firms that have spent more than 30 years proving it.

Co-founder Rex Elliott thinks about reputation the way a craftsman thinks about their work. It doesn't come from a single win or a single verdict. It comes from every interaction, every phone call returned, every client who emerged from a difficult process feeling like someone truly had their back. That's what we have been doing for three decades and what Rex expects us to keep doing for many more.

Attorney Spencer Hattemer clerked for federal district judges at the Columbus courthouse. So did Managing Partners Kaela King and Abby Chin. Attorney Sara Schiavone spent eight years on the defense side. Others came from well-known firms in the region.

When we walk into a Columbus courtroom, we already know the judges and the defense counsel, influencing our approach and strategy on behalf of our clients.
