Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas and informed enslaved people of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Today, Juneteenth serves as an opportunity to reflect on our nation's history, celebrate freedom, and recognize the ongoing pursuit of equality and justice.
As an employment law firm, we understand that many of the rights and protections we discuss today are rooted in a long history of expanding opportunities and advancing fairness in the workplace. Juneteenth reminds us that progress is meaningful, but it also requires continued commitment and vigilance.
