The narrow footprint, piazzas, tall windows, shutters, and even some of the colors we associate with Charleston developed around the city's climate, culture, and way of life.

One of the things I've always loved about Charleston is that its history isn't tucked away in a museum.

You see it walking down the street.

In the houses. The churches. The old storefronts. The neighborhoods. Even the streets themselves.

Charleston has changed a lot over the centuries, but so much of its history is still part of the city we live in today.

And after more than 20 years here, I still find something new to appreciate.

One of the perks of working around Charleston homes for as long as I have is getting to see what makes each one different.

With older homes, I'm always curious about the things you don't immediately notice, the original details, what has been changed over the years, and how thoughtfully those changes were made.

A renovation doesn't have to erase a home's history.

Some transactions are straightforward. Others require a little more work to keep everyone moving in the same direction.

738 Boyce Court was one of those.

The first challenge was getting the home show-ready for two weeks while a busy family of six, and their dogs and cats, was still living there. It took some planning, patience, and a lot of coordination.

Then came the inspection.

The buyers' initial repair requests were more than my seller felt were reasonable, so careful negotiation became key. The goal wasn't simply to push back, it was to find a solution that kept the deal together while making sure my client's interests were protected.

And that's exactly what happened.

We made it to the closing table with both sides happy with the outcome, a true win-win.

That's the kind of result that makes the complicated transactions worth it.

Maybe it's the quiet, tree-lined streets.
