You may have seen some headlines about Illinois’ new assisted dying law being put “on hold.” Here’s what’s actually happening.
The law is still scheduled to take effect September 12, but a temporary court order has paused certain requirements for a small group of doctors and hospitals while their legal challenge moves forward.
So, the law itself has not been stopped statewide.
