WHL attorneys counsel hospitals, physician groups, physicians, physical therapy businesses, psychologists, health plans, and other health care entities and professionals in audit, licensing, contract, regulatory, compliance and reimbursement matters. Williamson serves the clients of Williamson Health Law in the areas of payor audits and appeals, professional licensing defense, regulatory complianc
e, and health care contracts and transactions. Focusing exclusively on health care law, her clients include hospitals, physician groups, physicians, physical therapy businesses, psychologists, health plans, and numerous other health care providers, suppliers, professionals and businesses. She has also advised health care providers on compliance with the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark, including advice regarding self-disclosures under the Self Disclosure Protocol and analysis of a variety of arrangements under Stark ownership and compensation exceptions. Often serving as “general counsel” to small and medium-sized health care providers without their own in-house counsel, Ms. Williamson has advised her clients on a variety of compliance matters, including Medicare and insurance reimbursement issues and HIPAA compliance. Her HIPAA experience includes guiding clients through HIPAA breaches, responding to OCR complaints, and drafting policies and forms required by the Privacy and Security rules. She has also successfully represented numerous health care professionals in licensing cases and payer disaffiliation appeals. Williamson was honored as a Fellow of the State Bar of Michigan Health Care Law Section in 2018, recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America® in Health Care Law (2013 - 2022), named to the Michigan Super Lawyers list in 2020-2022, chosen as a Michigan Super Lawyers Rising Star in both 2011 and 2012, and awarded Top Lawyer by DBusiness magazine in 2019-2022. Williamson is a frequent author and speaker on a variety of health care law related topics, including presentation of the Michigan Health Law Update at ICLE’s Annual Health Law Institute from 2009-2014. She is an active member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Health Care Law Section, serving on its Council since 2010. She has also participated in the American Bar Association’s Health Care Law Section and the American Health Lawyers Association. Williamson received her Bachelor of Arts degree, cm laude, from Western Michigan University in 1994, and her Juris Doctorate degree, magna cm laude, from Michigan State University College of Law in 1997, where she was the Note and Comment editor on the Law Review. Williamson is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.
