Appointments for the next Legal Aid Clinic from the Oakland County Legal Resources Center on Wednesday, October 19 will be accepted today, October 18, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. by phone at 248-858-0012.

The free virtual clinic is for low-income individuals seeking legal assistance with civil, non-family issues. Attorneys from Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc. will provide participants with information on their rights, court procedures and forms, and in some cases, represent them in court.

Beginning October 1, 2022, the general public will no longer have immediate access to divorce complaints filed in Michigan trial courts.

Under the new Public Act 175 of 2022, divorce filings will not be accessible until after the proof of service has been filed with the trial court. Nonetheless, divorce complaints will still be accessible by an entity administering or providing services under Part D of Title IV of the Social Security Act, which pertains to Child Support and Establishment of Paternity, even when the complaint is still designated as nonpublic.
