Not everything you hear about construction is accurate—and misunderstanding the process can lead to unrealistic expectations on timelines and performance.
Myth: “Concrete takes 24 hours to fully cure.”
Fact: Concrete typically sets enough for light foot traffic within 24–48 hours, but it does not fully cure that quickly. Full curing is a chemical process that continues for up to 28 days, depending on mix design, temperature, humidity, and project conditions.
During this time, concrete gains its designed strength gradually—not instantly. Proper curing practices are critical to achieving durability, load-bearing capacity, and long-term performance.
At Coastal Development Group Inc., we follow strict curing standards to ensure every structure meets engineering requirements and stands the test of time.
