“Swift justice demands more than just swiftness.” ~ Justice Potter Stewart

“Judge Nancy E. Brasel, a Trump appointee, said in her order on Thursday that it appeared ‘the government failed to plan for the constitutional rights of its civil detainees. The government suggests — with minimal explanation and even less evidence — that doing so would result in ‘chaos.’”

In a rebuke to the government, a federal judge in Minnesota said “the government failed to plan for the constitutional rights of its civil detainees” during its immigration crackdown in the state.

Important News concerning Employment Authorization Document (EAD or Work Authorization):
"On October 30, 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued the Removal of the Automatic Extension of Employment Authorization Documents Interim Final Rule (IFR), which ended the 540-day automatic extension of employment authorization documents (EADs) for applicants who file renewals in a timely manner. This automatic extension period provided an important economic stopgap for businesses to continue employing current employees in case it takes more than 6 months to adjudicate their renewal applications. Processing times for certain categories of employment authorization applications are near or over 6 months. Given the administration’s ongoing goal to cut government personnel and increase enforcement
operations, these processing times will only increase. Without access to this automatic extension, employers will be forced to fire their trained employees due to bureaucratic delays.”

Be sure to keep track of EAD expiration date, and apply as soon as eligible! In all legal matters, professional and competent legal counsel is important, because it protects your rights, dispenses knowledge and experience in navigating complex legal issues, and provides guidance for you to making informed decisions.

“‘These raids are politically-motivated fear tactics designed to terrorize people who work hard for a living, power our economy and contribute to the communities across Georgia that they have made their homes,’ Charlie Bailey, chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, said in a statement.”

Federal officials announced Friday they detained 475 people at a construction site on the Hyundai Metaplant campus near Savannah.

“In defending this skimpy process, the Government makes a truly startling argument: that those who entered the country illegally are entitled to no process under the Fifth Amendment, but instead must accept whatever grace Congress affords them,” Cobb added. “Were that right, not only noncitizens, but everyone would be at risk. The Government could accuse you of entering unlawfully, relegate you to a bare-bones proceeding where it would ‘prove’ your unlawful entry, and then immediately remove you.”
“By merely accusing you of entering unlawfully, the Government would deprive you of any meaningful opportunity to disprove its allegations,” the judge added. “Fortunately, that is not the law.”

A federal judge on Friday blocked a Trump administration effort that aims to speed deportations of migrants detained in the interior of the United States, slamming it as a violation of due process.

“In enacting the TPS statute, Congress designed a system of temporary status that was predictable, dependable, and insulated from electoral politics.”

A federal appeals court upheld a lower court’s ruling postponing the end of Temporary Protected Status for over 600,000 Venezuelans.

Without constitutional due process protections, “Across the country, news of people being detained at their check-in appointments with immigration officials and at their scheduled court hearings was on the rise as the Trump administration continued to pressure ICE officers to meet daily arrest quotas.” Family separation is inhumane, in violation of basic human rights, and not in line with American values.

Jaime Galvan Sanchez has lived in the U.S. for more than 20 years. He was deported in less than 24 hours without due process and allowed to return. But his family is still suffering from the aftermath.

“Immigrants have a much higher likelihood of winning their cases when they have an attorney present. In January 2025, 77% of people facing deportation for entering the country illegally who had an attorney to represent them were permitted to remain in the U.S., a report by the Vera Institute for Justice found.”

Immigrants are finding it increasingly hard to find legal representation as the Trump administration ramps up deportation proceedings.
