What's changed with DACA?

- Initial applications for first-time applicants are being rejected
- Renewals are limited to one-year periods
- Advance parole is still available, but harder to get
- USCIS will reject renewals filed more than 150 days before the current DACA period expires

Important changes coming soon to asylum work permit applications - deadlines on August 21st and 25th.

August 21st - USCIS will no longer process asylum-based work permits within 30 days, which could mean they take 5-6 months as most work permits do.

August 25th - New forms are required. New waiting period of 365 days compared to 150 days following the filing of an asylum application. Automatic denials for many applicants. See the post for additional changes.

USCIS fee changes are coming soon - I-601A provisional waivers will be increasing. Specifically, the fees for a provisional unlawful presence waiver will increase from $715 ($630 + $85 required biometrics fee) to $990 ($960 + $30 biometrics fee). That’s an increase of 52% for the I-601A form. This fee increase begins on October 2, 2020, and forms filed between now and that date will still only require the $715 filing fee. Read more at
