We are grateful to all our service members and their families! Today is Purple Heart Day which honors and remembers U.S. service members who were wounded or killed in combat. The original award, the Badge of Military Merit, was established by General George Washington on August 7, 1782. It is the oldest military decoration still awarded today and over 1.8 million have been presented.
