Why Requesting Your Immigration Records Matters

Many people assume that because the government has their immigration records, there's no reason for them to request copies.

In reality, having access to your own immigration history is one of the most valuable tools when preparing an immigration case.

Your records may contain important information about prior applications, entries into the United States, immigration court proceedings, enforcement encounters, or previous decisions that could affect your eligibility for future immigration benefits.

Our latest blog explains why records requests are often one of the very first steps an experienced immigration attorney recommends before developing a legal strategy.

Preparing for Your USCIS Interview: Why Representation Matters

Receiving a USCIS interview notice can be stressful, but it's important to remember that an interview is not the same as a court hearing.

During your interview, a USCIS officer will review your application, ask questions, and determine whether your case meets the legal requirements for approval.

Proper preparation can help you feel more confident and avoid unnecessary surprises. An experienced immigration attorney can also attend the interview with you, help you understand the process, address legal issues if they arise, and advocate for your interests throughout the interview.

Our latest blog explains what to expect and why legal representation can provide valuable support during this important stage of your case.

✈️ Have Advance Parole? Think twice before you travel.

A new BIA decision has changed the rules surrounding how travel with Advance Parole may affect certain immigrants with a history of unlawful presence.

That means the question is no longer simply:

“Do I have Advance Parole?”

It’s also:

“What could leaving the United States mean for my immigration case?”

If you’re considering international travel, don’t make the decision based solely on your approved travel document—or on the fact that you or someone you know traveled safely in the past.

📌 Read our infographic for the details, and talk to an immigration attorney BEFORE you leave the United States.

And please share this post with anyone who has Advance Parole or is considering international travel.

General information only. Not legal advice. Individual circumstances matter.

What Is the Public Charge Rule—and Does It Apply to You?

The Public Charge Rule has generated a lot of questions and confusion among immigrants applying for lawful permanent residence.

Many people worry that receiving government benefits will automatically prevent them from getting a green card. In reality, the rule is much more nuanced, and many immigrants are not subject to it at all.

Our latest blog explains what a "public charge" is, how immigration officers evaluate these cases, and which applicants are exempt from the rule.

Reliable information is one of the best tools for making informed immigration decisions.

July was certainly one for the books!

Despite the challenges, we're ending the month by celebrating what matters most: our clients' successes. Throughout July, we were honored to help individuals and families receive immigration approvals and reach important milestones in their journeys.

Every approval tells a story of perseverance, hope, and new beginnings. We are incredibly grateful to our clients for trusting us to guide them through the process.

Reports of ICE activity at the Atlanta USCIS Field Office understandably raised concerns among immigrants, families, and attorneys across the country.

As the week unfolded, however, a more complete picture emerged. While there were reports of a few individuals being taken into custody under specific circumstances, attorneys also reported normal interviews, same-day approvals, and professional interactions with USCIS officers.

One of our attorneys attended an interview later in the week that was respectful, straightforward, and ended with an approval.

The lesson isn't to ignore concerns. It is to stay informed.

Knowing your immigration history, understanding whether you have any prior removal orders, and preparing with experienced legal counsel have never been more important.

At the same time, it's important not to let rumors become assumptions. Many USCIS interviews continue to proceed as they have for years, with officers focused on the facts of the application.

Our latest blog shares observations from this past week and offers perspective on navigating uncertainty with preparation instead of fear.

In recent months, many immigrants have been shocked to receive notices from the government demanding thousands—or even hundreds of thousands—of dollars in civil penalties.

Receiving one of these notices can be extremely stressful. However, it is important to remember two things:

✔️ Do not panic.
✔️ Do not ignore it.

A notice demanding payment does not automatically mean the government is legally entitled to collect the amount listed. Depending on the circumstances, there may be legal defenses, procedural challenges, or opportunities to contest the penalty.

If you receive a notice, make sure to carefully review any deadlines and seek legal guidance as soon as possible.

Taking action early can help preserve important rights and options.
