VAWA Update: Stricter Review & New Guidance

USCIS has updated its VAWA (I-360) policy after a sharp rise in filings and fraud concerns. Eligibility has not changed, but officers will apply stricter evidence and good-faith requirements to protect real survivors and reduce delays.
These rules apply to VAWA cases pending or filed on or after Dec. 22, 2025.

The H-1B lottery is ending. Starting Feb. 27, 2026, DHS will use a weighted selection system that prioritizes higher-paid and higher-skilled workers for the FY 2027 H-1B cap. The annual cap remains 65,000 + 20,000 (U.S. master’s), alongside the $100,000 H-1B fee.

USCIS announced inflation-based fee increases for FY 2026. Here are the most relevant changes:

I-765 (EAD – initial for Asylum, TPS, Parole): $560
I-765 (EAD – renewal for TPS/Parole): $280
I-821 (TPS Application): $510

These are only some of the updated fees — several others will also change starting Jan. 1, 2026. Using the wrong fee can lead to delays or rejection.
