🚨 Important update for anyone applying for U.S. citizenship:

USCIS has ended its general waiver of neighborhood investigations in naturalization cases. This means officers may contact an applicant’s neighbors, employer, coworkers, or business associates to verify information relating to residence, employment, good moral character, and eligibility for naturalization.

This does not mean every applicant will receive a home or workplace visit. USCIS will determine whether an investigation is necessary on a case-by-case basis.

Before filing Form N-400, carefully review your complete history, including prior addresses, employment, travel, taxes, child support, arrests, citations, and previous immigration filings. Even issues that appear minor may now receive closer scrutiny.

🚨 Major Immigration Update: Traveling outside the United States with Advance Parole may now trigger the 3-year or 10-year unlawful-presence bar for certain individuals. You may be denied re-entry to the US.

The new BIA decision, Matter of Delcarmen-Lara, applies prospectively and does not affect everyone. If you have accumulated unlawful presence, speak with an immigration attorney before traveling, even if you already have Advance Parole.

🚨 BREAKING: President Trump signed two new executive orders today targeting birthright citizenship.

The new orders take a narrower approach following the Supreme Court’s June 30 decision striking down the administration’s earlier attempt to restrict birthright citizenship.

The orders seek to:

▪️ Crack down on “birth tourism” — including people who enter the U.S. on nonimmigrant visas for the purpose of giving birth. The administration directs federal agencies to take measures that may include visa denials or revocations, denial of entry, removal, and restrictions on those who facilitate birth-tourism arrangements.

▪️ Expand the categories the administration considers outside birthright citizenship, including certain children of foreign government employees, designated “alien enemies,” and certain situations involving commercial arrangements to obtain citizenship through a U.S. birth.

⚖️ Important: An executive order does not amend the Constitution. The Fourteenth Amendment remains in place, and these new orders are expected to face significant legal challenges.

This is a developing issue, and implementation guidance is expected from federal agencies in the coming weeks.

🚨 USCIS POLICY ALERT: USCIS officers now have broader discretion to deny certain immigration applications and petitions without first issuing a Request for Evidence (RFE) or Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID).

This means applicants should not assume they will receive a second opportunity to fix an incomplete or poorly supported filing. A case may be denied when required initial evidence is missing, the evidence submitted does not establish eligibility, or there is no legal basis for approval.

A denial can mean lost filing fees, significant delays, and having to start the process again. Your application should be complete, accurate, and fully supported when it is filed.

Before submitting your immigration case, make sure you understand the requirements and include all necessary forms and evidence.
