Who are the legal heirs of a deceased person?

In this video, we explain how inheritance works when someone passes away and how courts determine who is legally entitled to receive an estate.

Many people assume that inheritance automatically goes to the closest family members, but the law is more structured than that. Legal heirs are determined by state intestacy laws, which set a specific order of inheritance when there is no valid will. This can include a surviving spouse, children, parents, siblings, and in some cases more distant relatives.

Understanding who qualifies as a legal heir is essential for anyone dealing with probate, estate administration, or inheritance disputes.

This video is for educational purposes only and is not legal advice. Every estate situation is unique, and the law depends on the specific facts involved.

Think a will in your family isn't right? You might be able to contest it — but only certain people qualify, only certain reasons count, and the deadline to act is often shorter than you'd expect.
In our latest video, we break down how contesting a will actually works: who has legal standing, the four main grounds courts recognize (like lack of capacity and undue influence), and what the process looks like once a contest is filed.
This video is educational only, not legal advice — every case depends on its own facts and your state's laws.

What is the penalty for abuse of power of attorney?

Did you know a power of attorney can be sued — and even criminally charged — for misusing their authority? 😳

If you suspect a family member or agent has abused a power of attorney, it's not just a "family issue." The law takes this seriously, and the consequences can include repayment, removal, and in serious cases, criminal charges.

In our latest video, we break down what actually happens when a power of attorney is abused — and the one misconception that trips up almost every family dealing with this. 🎥👇

How do you prove undue influence when contesting a will?

In this video, we explain what undue influence means, why it can become an issue in probate disputes, and what factors may be considered when someone believes a will does not reflect a person’s true wishes.

Many people assume that an unfair inheritance or an unexpected change to a will automatically means undue influence occurred. However, will contests involving undue influence are often more complicated. Courts generally look at the full circumstances surrounding how a will was created.

This video covers undue influence, contesting a will, probate disputes, inheritance concerns, and what families should understand when questioning whether a loved one’s wishes were followed.

What happens if you discover that a loved one’s will may have been forged?

A fake signature, an altered document, or a will created to benefit someone else can raise serious legal questions, but a suspicious will does not automatically mean forgery or criminal conduct.

In this video, we explain:
• What can constitute will forgery
• The difference between an invalid will and a forged will
• How suspected fraud can affect the probate process
• Potential civil and criminal consequences
• Why evidence matters when forgery is suspected

If you believe a will may not be authentic, understanding the difference between a will dispute and actual fraud is an important first step.

"How much does it cost to contest a trust?" is one of the most common questions we get.

“It depends" is the frustrating but honest answer.

The why of “it depends” is actually really useful to understand. In our latest video, we walk through two realistic scenarios: a trust contest that settles quickly, and one that turns into a full trial to show exactly what drives the cost up or down, plus how a no-contest clause can change the whole calculation. 🎥

What are the grounds for contesting a will?

In this video, we explain the most common legal reasons a will can be challenged in probate court and what judges actually look for when deciding whether a will is valid.

Many people assume that a will can be contested simply because it feels unfair. However, the law is much more specific. Courts generally require clear legal grounds such as lack of capacity, undue influence, fraud, improper ex*****on, or other recognized issues before a will can be set aside.
Understanding these grounds is essential if you are dealing with a probate dispute or questioning the validity of a loved one’s will.

Think revoking a power of attorney is as simple as tearing up the paper?

It's not.

Copies held by your bank, doctor, or financial advisor can still be treated as valid until they're formally notified that it's been revoked. In our latest video, we break down what it actually takes to properly revoke a durable power of attorney, including the one step most people forget. 🎥

Can you sue a beneficiary of a trust?

Your sibling is a beneficiary of your parents' trust, just like you. But you find out they've been taking distributions they weren't entitled to, or that they pressured your aging parent into changing the trust right before they passed away.

Can you actually sue them? Or does being "just a beneficiary", not the person running the trust, mean your hands are tied?
Here's the confusion: most people know you can sue a trustee for mismanaging a trust, since trustees have a legal duty to manage things properly. A beneficiary doesn't carry that same duty — they're just entitled to receive something.

But that doesn't make beneficiaries untouchable. You may have options if a beneficiary:

⚖️ Received assets they weren't entitled to
⚖️ Used pressure or influence to change the trust in their favor ⚖️ Is interfering with how the trust is being administered

It's rarely about suing someone simply because you're unhappy with what they got. It's about what they actually did.

Every situation is different, and the facts matter. If something about a family trust doesn't sit right with you, you don't have to sort through it alone.
