Our NMHCA/NMCAL team, along with New Mexico NCAL State Leader Olivia Romero, had a rewarding experience attending the 2026 AHCA/NCAL Delivering Solutions Conference in Boston. During the conference, Vicente and Olivia had the opportunity to participate in the AHCA Council of States and NCAL State Leaders Joint Meeting, where they engaged in meaningful discussions about important issues, challenges, and opportunities impacting the long term care profession. These conversations are vital as we work alongside leaders from across the country to share perspectives, strengthen collaboration, and advocate for the providers, caregivers, and residents we proudly serve.

The NMHCA/NMCAL team is excited to be part of the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living Annual Convention in Boston, Massachusetts. We’re looking forward to connecting and collaborating with colleagues from across the nation, sharing ideas, and finding new opportunities to learn and grow together as a profession. We’re also looking forward to celebrating this year’s Bronze, Silver, and Gold National Quality Award recipients and shine a well-deserved spotlight on the long-term care communities demonstrating a commitment to quality and excellence. A special thank you to AHCA/NCAL for bringing our profession together and creating opportunities for connection, education, and collaboration. A few weeks ago, our members had the opportunity to celebrate National Assisted Living Week, and it was wonderful to see the special events and celebrations taking place throughout our New Mexico communities. From creative activities and themed celebrations to plenty of laughter, connection, and smiles, our Assisted Living communities found so many meaningful ways to make the week special for residents and team members. This week, NMHCA/NMCAL is proud to celebrate Health Care Foodservice Workers Week and recognize the individuals who help nourish and care for residents throughout our long-term care communities! Health care foodservice professionals do so much more than prepare and serve meals. They help meet residents’ unique nutritional needs, accommodate preferences and dietary requirements, create enjoyable dining experiences, and often bring an extra smile and personal connection to someone’s day. Here are just a few of the amazing foodservice professionals from our NMHCA/NMCAL member communities who serve residents each day. NMHCA/NMCAL is excited to shine a spotlight on one of our newest members, Meadow City Assisted Living (MCAL)! Today, we are pleased to spotlight Jody Knox, a valued member of the NMHCA/NMCAL Board of Directors who has also served our association as Past President. Jody is the CEO of Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, New Mexico, an organization that provides skilled nursing, assisted living, home health, physical therapy, hospice, and other services to seniors and their families. Lakeview is committed to compassionate, high-quality, person-centered care in a faith-based environment, with a mission centered on honoring God through service to seniors and their families. For Jody, however, Lakeview is much more than a place to work, it has been an important part of her life for many years. “I came to Lakeview as a young girl, and it has been my whole life. We had an incredible time at the Dueling Pianos event during our 2026 NMHCA/NMCAL Annual Convention! With two talented pianists playing face-to-face, along with drums, guitars, and plenty of audience participation, the evening was filled with music from across the decades. Our musicians took requests, attendees joined in to sing some of their favorites, and there was no shortage of dancing, laughter, great food, and fun! Events like this are such a great reminder that our convention is not only about learning and professional growth, it’s also about building relationships, connecting with colleagues, and enjoying time together as a long-term care community.
