Atty. Pitero M. Reig, IBP National Director for Legal Aid (NCLA) and former IBP Governor for the Southern Luzon Region (2023โ2025), delivered a presentation on the Unified Legal Aid Service (ULAS) on August 20, 2026, during the 2026 Integrated Bar of the Philippines Southern Luzon Regional Convention at Seda Nuvali, Santa Rosa City, Laguna.
Drawing from his experience in both regional leadership and national legal aid work, Atty. Reig discussed the significance of ULAS in strengthening the legal professionโs commitment to public service and expanding access to legal assistance for indigent, marginalized, and underserved sectors.
He highlighted the vital role of IBP Chapters and members of the Bar in the effective implementation of ULAS, underscoring the importance of sustained participation, coordination, and volunteerism in advancing the IBPโs legal aid mandate.
The session also provided members of the Southern Luzon Region with a deeper understanding of the objectives and implementation of ULAS, as well as its role in building a more responsive, coordinated, and sustainable legal aid system nationwide.
Through the IBP-NCLA, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines remains steadfast in strengthening legal aid programs, supporting its Chapters and volunteer lawyers, and advancing meaningful and equitable access to justice for all.
