A Guardian plays an important role when parents have minor children.

If both parents pass away, who will take care of the children?

A Guardianship clause in a Will allows parents to name the person they wish to appoint as Guardian for their minor children.

The Guardian may be responsible for:
• Taking care of the child’s daily needs

When is the best time to write a Will?

Before it's too late.

Many people believe they can write a Will at any stage of life. However, one important legal requirement is often overlooked:

A person must have the mental capacity to understand and make a valid Will.

Conditions such as dementia may gradually affect a person's ability to make informed decisions. Once mental capacity is lost, it may no longer be possible to create or amend a valid Will.

A Will is not just for the elderly.
It is for anyone who wants to:
* Decide who will receive their assets.
* Appoint an Executor they trust.
* Name a Guardian for their minor children.
* Ensure their wishes are clearly documented.

Writing a Will while you are healthy and mentally capable gives you the freedom to make your own decisions—rather than leaving them to uncertainty later.
