When the local authority becomes involved in a child’s life, it can be an extremely stressful and uncertain time for parents and families. Understanding the process and knowing what to expect can make a significant difference during what is often an emotional situation.

Our latest article explains the timeline of local authority intervention in public children law matters, from the initial concerns raised by children’s services through to pre-proceedings meetings, assessments, care proceedings and potential court orders.

We also outline the role of the local authority, what parents and carers can expect at each stage of the process, and why obtaining early legal advice is so important when concerns are raised about a child’s welfare.
