PENSIONS ! TAX!

From 6 April 2027 unused defined pension funds will be brought into the value of your estate for inheritance tax!!!!

If you have a decent sized pension this may mean that your estate is going to face tax liabilities on your death.

I am making a bet with you!

I bet you’ve talked about making a Will a couple of times! I bet you’ve thought that having powers of attorney in place is a good idea BUT

I KNOW SOMETHING ISNT RIGHT!

We know ourselves better than anyone but recognising when things are not right is not easy - those little moments of forgetting a name - confusion - brain fog and problems with memory recall.

It could be a number of things - but in panic mode we turn to thinking it may be an illness or something like dementia.

Breaking news: For qualifying business owners and farmers - we are delighted to share an update from the UK government that the allowance for 100% relief of agricultural property relief (APR) and business property relief (BPR) will be increased from 1 million to 2.5 million for inheritance tax.

This means that a couple will now be able to pass on up to 5 million of agricultural or business assets between them, on top of the existing allowances such as the nil rate band!!! So farms can pass to next generations with more relief and businesses can build up to 5 million value and be passed tax free.

This change takes effect on 6 April 2026.

This makes a huge difference to inheritance tax.
