On the 24th of July, our EnABLE (disability support) and Gender Equality support networks were pleased to host Sara-Louise Ackrill FRSA at our office for a Neurodiversity Speaker Event. Sara-Louise is founding CEO of Wired Differently, a hub for neurodivergent (ND) people as well as a therapist, coach and advocate.

During the talk Sara delved into her lived experience as an ND woman in the business world, sharing insights on navigating personal challenges. Sara also covered the Reasonable Adjustments and the Equality Act (2010), tips for managing / working with ND team members, the importance of psychological safety and intersectionality among many other topics.

We thank Sara for coming in to speak to us, delivering what was a highly interesting and informative talk for colleagues.

Today we welcome 28 students virtually for our third Pathways to Law work experience programme.

Pathways to Law is a social mobility initiative run by The Sutton Trust which supports students interested in a career in law, offering them work experience placements, mentoring opportunities and networking events.

During their time with us this week, the students will have the opportunity to hear from our legal groups and business services teams about life at Forsters. They will also take part in skills-based workshops, Q&A panel sessions and hear from our Early Careers team about the different routes into law.

On Friday evening, a Forsters team of 15 set off to walk a half marathon as part of the London Homeless Collective’s London Night Walk, raising funds for the firm’s charitable partner the Marylebone Project.

The walk united London based charities tackling homelessness to walk as one whilst reflecting on the challenges faced by those without secure housing. The team has raised £4,650 which could provide 93 vulnerable women with an emergency bed for one night and access to nutritious meals, toiletries and health services. Well done to all our walkers and thank you to everyone who supported!

On the evening of Friday 22 March, a Forsters team will be walking a half marathon as part of the London Homeless Collective’s Night Walk, raising funds for the firm’s charitable partner the Marylebone Project. 🚶‍♀️

Individuals who are particularly vulnerable often walk through the night, travel on night buses or access 24-hour retail sites in order to stay safe and awake. The Night Walk unites homeless charities to walk as one whilst offering the chance to reflect on the challenges faced by those without secure housing.

We are thrilled to announce the Marylebone Project as our new charitable partner for the next two years. As we have recently moved to our new office in Marylebone, we are excited to support our local community.

The Marylebone Project provides a life-changing service for women facing homelessness, empowering them towards independent living. It is the largest and longest-running centre of its kind in London and the UK with over 90 years’ experience and 112 residential beds across two buildings. It is the only women’s-only homelessness centre that is open 24/7, 365 days a year.

We look forward to working with the Marylebone Project throughout the partnership in support of their vision to empower women to end their homelessness and equipping them to live fulfilling, independent lives.
