Wishing a quick release from detention for Becky Burke, a British woman, held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for the past ten days upon return from a trip to the Canadian land border on a bus. BBC Radio Wales Breakfast show spoke to me about options for those in detention for quicker releases: voluntary departure in front of a judge, or expedited removal (ER). ER is quick, but results in a five-year ban from travel to the US. Return to the U.S. using a waiver of inadmissibility on a visitor visa could be possible after about two and a half years.

From tomorrow, 28 December 2020, airlines flying from UK will not board travelers to the US - whether US citizen or legal permanent resident or other - without documentation of a negative Covid test. Specimen needs to have been collected in the three calendar days preceding flight check-in.
