Exit planning isn’t something you start when you’re ready to sell.

🔹 Secondary market sales in Europe are happening now. Private listings can offer speed, privacy and flexibility, without a prospectus or stamp duty, with some transactions potentially completing in 4–8 weeks. As says Mason Doick

🔹 IPO or private sale? An IPO can be a long process, and plenty of deals fall away before completion. Knowing your options matters.

🔹 Own your IP. If it isn’t properly documented, you may not own it. Developers, founders and third parties can all create potential problems.

🔹 Get your documents in order. Investors and buyers don’t want a folder full of drafts. Properly executed documentation demonstrates that the business is investment-ready.

🔹 Know your investor. Some focus heavily on numbers and valuation. Others want to understand the people, purpose and story behind the business. Shirley Choo

Start preparing for your exit years before you plan to exit. Building a business that achieves its full valuation takes time. Your exit strategy should start long before your exit.

Does your company actually own its IP? Don’t find out too late that that’s not the case. Read a full article online where we explain what happens if a founder passes away or if you’re married and divorce or if one of the founders leaves. Perhaps you haven’t assigned the IP from your developer. Carry out an IP audit now and make sure you genuinely own your IP before an investor or buyer finds the gap.
