We're incredibly proud of Aimee Harris and Mel Driscoll from Team 4 in our Liverpool office, who are taking on the AJ Bell Great North Run this September to raise funds for Day One Trauma Support.

Known as the world's largest half marathon, the Great North Run sees thousands of runners travel from Newcastle city centre, across the iconic Tyne Bridge and through to South Shields, supported by incredible crowds along the way.

By taking on this challenge, Aimee and Mel are helping to raise vital funds and awareness for a charity that provides practical and emotional support to people recovering from serious injuries and trauma.

We wish them the very best with their training and fundraising efforts.

Last week, members of our newly qualified Bond Turner solicitors and trainees attended the MJLD Summer Soirée at The Bentley, Liverpool, joining legal professionals from across the region for an evening of networking, celebration and community. The annual event, hosted by the Merseyside Junior Lawyers Division, brought together junior lawyers and legal leaders to recognise achievement across the profession and support the next generation of talent.

The evening featured awards celebrating excellence within the legal community, including recognition for Care in the Community, Legal Excellence and Support to Rising Talent, alongside a charity raffle in aid of Alfie's Squad, raising valuable funds for an important cause.

We were particularly proud to see Alum Ullah, Bond Turner's Training Principal and Vice President of Liverpool Law Society, address attendees during the event. Alum congratulated the MJLD board on delivering another successful evening and encouraged junior lawyers to engage with both the MJLD and Liverpool Law Society, highlighting the many opportunities available to develop professionally, build networks and contribute to the wider legal community.

A huge thank you to the event sponsors, Weightmans and Hundred Court Chambers, whose support helped make the evening such a success.

Congratulations to the MJLD team on a fantastic event, and well done to all award winners and nominees.

Baroness Amos’ final report highlights ongoing failures in maternity and neonatal services, with many families feeling dismissed, ignored and unable to secure accountability after traumatic experiences.

The report calls for urgent reform, including a statutory National Maternity and Neonatal Commissioner to drive change and improve accountability. The Government has welcomed the recommendations, committing to appoint a Commissioner, publish a National Action Plan by December 2026, invest £41 million in safety improvements and introduce new maternity triage standards.

While these commitments are encouraging, lasting improvement will require strong oversight and full implementation of the report’s recommendations.

Carla Duprey, Clinical Negligence Solicitor, shares her thoughts in our latest blog post: https://www.bondturner.com/insights/not-heard-dismissed-ignored/

The publication of Baroness Amos’s final report is the latest in a long line of reviews examining safety failures in NHS maternity care. While its findings on accountability, culture, workforce pressures and inequalities are familiar, the report raises an important question: will this lead to meaningful change, or simply reinforce lessons that have already been identified time and time again?

In our latest blog, we explore the key findings, what they mean from a clinical negligence perspective, and whether the system is equipped to turn recommendations into lasting improvements for women, babies and families.

Today marks the start of the 100K in June Challenge in support of 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

Colleagues from Bond Turner kicked things off with a lunchtime walk around Liverpool city centre, joined by Hayley Ibbotson from Day One Trauma and our mascot, Bertie the Bear, who kept spirits high every step of the way. 🐻

The walk also gave John Doyle , Director of Serious Injury, and James Tomlinson, Commercial Director of Clinical Negligence, the chance to discuss the upcoming Mont Blanc Trek, where they’ll join the Day One team in taking on three countries in three days to help raise vital funds for the charity. 🥾🏔️

We’re proud to be supporting Day One Trauma through both the 100K in June Challenge and as headline sponsors of the Mont Blanc Trek.
