The Renter's Rights Act was meant to have strengthened renters rights but we are now seeing issues arising from the new law that seem to weaken renter's rights.

There needs to be collaborative work done between the government and frontline organisations to ensure that renters are able to navigate these new changes.

We have unfortunately had to make the decision to cancel our drop-in session at Liverpool Civil & Family Court.

The last two sessions will take place this week, Wednesday 7th & Friday 9th October from 11am-1pm.

Too right! Since 1996, inflation has eroded half the value of fees. To close that gap, the Ministry of Justice would have to double them all.

But this is not a business: it is an essential public service. Alarm bells! 🔔

At Merseyside Law Centre, our early legal support has resulted in a large number of our clients avoiding homelessness and going through the stressful experience of attending court.

Being able to intervene during the early stages of a case has allowed us, for example, to investigate the validity of possession orders and whether the landlord is correctly licensed. This saves a drawn out process further down the line, going through court and reduces the stress and instability of a client's situation.

Early legal support works. 👍

When legal problems arise, getting the right support at the right time can make all the difference.

Our Court drop-in session is cancelled for tomorrow but will be back Wednesday 7th October.
