A fantastic review for our Head of Continuing Healthcare, James Urquhart-Burton…

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I engaged Mr James Urquhart-Burton to act for me in relation to a CHC decision with regard to my mother's declining condition (due to Alzheimers disease). A decision that I felt was unfair and was worth challenging. I knew that I would need the support of someone who was familiar with all the processes and policies and working with James confirmed that he knows "his stuff" in this field.

James proved to be expert in extracting relevant information from my statements in order to take the matter to formal appeal where, between his knowledge of the system and my records and familiarity with my mum's situation, we managed to reverse the negative decision made by the NHS Assessor. We, as a family, are very grateful for the legal support we had from James in this matter.

Lunch was a little more social than usual at Winston Solicitors today.

❓When should you apply for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding❓

If your loved one’s care needs have recently changed, it may be time to consider whether they could be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding.

You may want to explore CHC if they have:

🏥 Recently been discharged from hospital
🏡 Moved into a care home
💙 Started receiving care at home
📈 Experienced a deterioration in their health or an increase in their care needs

These changes don't automatically mean someone will qualify, but they can be a good reason to look into an assessment.

And if you've already been paying care fees for years, it may still be worth seeking advice. In some circumstances, funding can be claimed retrospectively.
