🔊Operation Beaconport is Important for Abuse Survivors🔊

For many survivors of child abuse, the most painful part is not always the abuse itself. It can be the feeling of not being believed or not being listened to.

Sadly, it can also be watching an investigation close without getting any answers, which can leave survivors in limbo. That is why the launch of Operation Beaconport is such a significant development.

Led by the National Crime Agency (NCA), Operation Beaconport is a nationwide review of previously closed investigations into group-based child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE).

The operation aims to identify cases where opportunities were missed, investigations were closed too early, or victims and survivors were not given the support and attention they deserved.

What is the Church of England Redress Scheme⁉️

👉The Church of England Redress Scheme is a national redress scheme proposed to compensate victims of church-related abuse.

👉The Church of England Redress Scheme is due to become available to survivors of physical, sexual, emotional, spiritual and psychological abuse, neglect and financial abuse with awards ranging from £5,000 to £660,000.

👉The Scheme is set to be one of the most generous compensation schemes for claims. It aims to offer financial, therapeutic, and emotional support for a wide range of abuse.

👉The scheme has now received final approval from the General Synod, but is not yet open for applications. However, you can register for the Church of England Redress Scheme before it becomes fully operational.

You might be working with an Independent Sexual Violence Adviser (ISVA), speaking to the police, or receiving help from a social worker or support service. That support can be incredibly important. It can help you feel heard, believed and guided through the criminal justice process.
