Families navigating an HIE diagnosis need trusted support, compassionate guidance and access to specialist expertise. We are honoured to work alongside PEEPS and look forward to supporting the families they help.

Knowing where to start can feel overwhelming, particularly at an already difficult time. We want to make that process a little easier.

Peeps launched its Legal Panel in August 2023 to help families identify reputable organisations and make informed decisions when seeking legal advice. This year we are welcoming Tozers to the panel.

Every organisation on our Legal Panel has completed our due diligence process and offers a free, confidential initial consultation. They are not the only organisations able to provide legal advice, nor are families under any obligation to use them, but they may offer a helpful starting point.

We also have a private Facebook group where families can discuss legal matters, ask questions and share experiences in a supportive peer community. If you would like more information about joining, please get in touch.

We believe it’s important to be transparent. The organisations on our Legal Panel make a financial contribution to support Peeps’ charitable work, helping us fund our core services for families affected by H.I.E.

This financial support does not influence the advice they provide or any decisions you make. Any contact you have with a panel member is entirely confidential. Peeps does not receive referral fees, does not share your personal information with panel members, and panel members do not have access to your details unless you choose to contact them directly.

As part of Group B Strep Awareness Week, we're sharing the story of one family we were privileged to support after delays in the diagnosis and treatment of a Group B Strep (GBS) infection resulted in a young child suffering life-changing injuries.

Our Medical Negligence team helped the family investigate what had happened and secure the compensation needed to provide lifelong care and support. While no legal claim can undo the harm caused, it can help families access the specialist care, therapies and resources their child will need in the years ahead.

Following a successful settlement, J's family have already been able to put vital support in place, enabling them to focus on what matters most – J's wellbeing and development.

Group B Strep Support (GBSS)

We're proud to support Group B Strep Awareness Week (8–14 July).

Group B Strep (GBS) is a common bacterium that is usually harmless, but in rare cases can cause serious infection in newborn babies. Most early-onset GBS infections are preventable with the right information, testing and treatment during labour, while recognising the signs of late-onset infection is crucial for ensuring babies receive prompt care.

Today is World Preeclampsia Day.

Preeclampsia is a serious condition that can affect women during pregnancy, most often after 20 weeks, but sometimes shortly after birth. While it’s commonly linked to high blood pressure and protein in the urine, the symptoms aren’t always obvious and can easily be mistaken for typical pregnancy discomfort.

Raising awareness matters. Preeclampsia can develop quickly and, in some cases, have life-changing consequences for both mother and baby.

Understanding the signs and seeking advice early can make all the difference.
