Our homeschool curriculum. And why we chose a hybrid model. 🤍

Everyone keeps asking what curriculum I picked. The honest answer? I have absolutely no desire to go back and relearn math. I peaked at times tables and I’m okay with that. 😂

For language arts, history, art and character, we landed on The Good and the Beautiful. It’s beautiful, gentle, faith-based and works for both my girls.

For math and science, they’ll be doing online teacher-led classes through Bearspaw Christian Homeschool. Because I know my strengths, and long division is not one of them.

One thing I’m learning already is that homeschooling doesn’t have to mean doing every single thing yourself. You can build it around your kids, your family and what actually works for you.
For us, that looks like a little bit of homeschool, a little bit of hybrid, and outsourcing the long division. 😂🤍

The last few months have been full. Some of it beautiful. Some of it really hard. 🤍

Real estate has had a beautiful summer, and my team and I are so grateful to be busy helping our clients through some big transitions.

The tech company I’m building has been a different story. We hit some real setbacks. I stepped back, had a few good cries, and we regrouped as a team. We’re on the right path now.

And on Tuesday, my girls and I officially begin our first year of homeschool. Every emotion is showing up, but more than anything, I’m excited.

This has been a season of growth and transition, and I have a feeling there’s more of both ahead.

the right losses save you from the wrong wins. nobody told me that when i started selling real estate 15 years ago. 🤍

early in my career i chased a client and a deal that cost me more than i can explain. time. energy. confidence. i lost sleep over it. i questioned everything. when it was finally over i realized i had spent months on something that was never going to be right no matter what i did.

you’re going to be told the houses matter. they don’t. the people do. you’re going to chase deals that don’t deserve you. you’re going to want to win every offer. you won’t, and some of those losses will be the best thing that ever happened to you. you’re going to think you have to know everything. you don’t. you have to listen.

the career you think you’re starting is not the career you’ll have.

15 years later. wish i’d told myself sooner.

What are you sitting on? 🤍

This year mine were pulling my kids out of school, saying yes to building a tech company while keeping the real estate business I love, and a couple of other things I’m not ready to talk about yet. Every one of them sat in my head for months. The day I said them out loud things started to move.

She’s been asking for two years. 🤍

My oldest started asking to be homeschooled when she was nine. Every time she asked, I had a reason it wasn’t the right time. When I actually sat down and looked at the reasons, none of them were about her. They were about me.

If your kid is asking for something and you keep saying no, it might be worth asking yourself why. ✨
