From 1 August 2026, the monetary jurisdiction of the Small Claims Court will increase from R20 000 to R30 000.

We were delighted to host three fantastic vacation work students as part of our Vacation Work Programme, held from 30 June 2026 to 2 July 2026.

Throughout the programme, Omphile, Nicholas and Paige had the opportunity to shadow our candidate attorneys and associates, observe court proceedings, and gain first-hand exposure to various aspects of legal practice, including visits to the Master's Office, the High Court, and the Advocates Chambers.

Our aim was to provide meaningful insight into the practical side of what it means to be a candidate attorney/attorney, offering a glimpse into our day-to-day realities of legal practice while equipping our vacation work students with valuable knowledge, skills and experience.

It was a pleasure having Omphile, Nicholas and Paige with us. We thank you for your enthusiasm, professionalism and eagerness to learn throughout the programme. We wish you every success with the remainder of your studies and have no doubt that you each have bright futures ahead. We look forward to seeing the positive contribution you will make to the legal profession in the years to come.

Pagdens Attorneys invites final year law students to apply for our three-day Vacation Work Programme taking place from Tuesday, 30 June 2026 to Thursday, 2 July 2026.

Applicants should have an interest in at least one of the firmโ€™s areas of practice, which include, inter alia, Property Law & Conveyancing, Dispute Resolution & General Litigation, Labour Law, Banking Litigation, Estate Planning and Deceased Estate Administration and Family Law.

Today weโ€™re embracing a little extra comfort in the workplace for Slipper Day.

Pagdens proudly took part in Slipper Day, a fun initiative in support of a truly worthy cause - helping the Reach for a Dream Foundation fulfil the dreams of children fighting life-threatening illnesses.

And it turns out they were right: wearing slippers really did increase productivity, make meetings feel shorter, improve the taste of broccoli, and make our bosses up to 15% less bossy!

Many people spend years building a life, growing their assets, and providing for their families, yet delay putting a will in place.

A properly drafted and properly executed will helps ensure that your wishes are clearly recorded and that your loved ones have guidance at an already difficult time. It can also help you appoint an executor, nominate guardians for minor children, and structure aspects of your estate planning more carefully.
