Self-checkout is the single largest source of accidental shoplifting cases we see. Kids who
genuinely didn't realize an item was under the cart, didn't scan, or didn't make it through the bagging area. The system flags the discrepancy, the teen gets called back, and now there's an
investigation. A staffed register doesn't generate that ambiguity.
