The last day to file 2021 extended tax returns is Oct 17, 2022 without being considered late by the IRS. Great advice is to make sure you've provided everything your tax professional needs on or before Oct 10, 2022!

The IRS will begin accepting individual (personal) e-file tax returns on the 24 of Jan 2022. Most of my clients are still waiting for some of their required tax forms after Feb 1. The law says W-2 & 1099-NEC forms are to be postmarked by the end of January.

Hope everyone is looking forward to the New Year but don’t forget to get prepared for Tax Time! Don’t forget to take your RMD’s if 72 or older! Also the last to make estimated tax payments, if needed for 2021 is January 15, 2022.

Just a reminder; if you haven't taken your RMD's, please do so very soon. I recommend by the first of Dec at the latest. The IRS penalty for failing to take RMD's is 50%!

There's a charity change this year for us taxpayers who don't qualify for the Sch A (itemized deductions). Last year the amount was $300 per return; this year it's $300 per person. Example: Married Filing Joint returns can deduct up to $600 per return from their Adjusted Gross Income for tax year 2021.

Want to remind those over 70 1/2 that they are allowed to donate to churches & 501C3 charities from their taxable retirement savings accounts & take the deduction on the first page of the 1040 tax form. It's called QCD's. RMD's moved to age 72 but QCD's are still 70 1/2.
