A wise man once told me…

Being strong isn't necessarily the answer either. Being kind and loving is actually much more powerful. Christ wants that for all of us. Love and kindness and happiness. Sometimes strength is needed to accomplish all that but love and kindness is the actual goal.🙂

My air conditioner went out. My house reached 93 degrees last night, and I got approximately four minutes of quality sleep.

Before anyone asks: yes, I know about equipment breakdown coverage on home insurance policies. It provides coverage if your major systems breakdown often up to $50K but has several caveats. I also know what my own policy would provide.

Because my unit is older, the most my carrier would pay is $2,500, subject to a $500 deductible. I chose not to buy that coverage because I generally use insurance for the big, catastrophic losses, not the little stuff to keep my costs down.

I made a perfectly logical, informed decision. In this instance, I also apparently made a decision to suffer. 🤣

Here is my cautionary advice that I want clients to understand: equipment breakdown coverage and home warranties are not interchangeable. Whether your air conditioner is covered depends heavily on why it stopped working, its age, and which optional coverages you chose.

I made my choice knowingly and I want you to, too. I just liked it a lot better when my house was 72 degrees.

Review your policy before something breaks, not while you’re sweating it out in a 93-degree house.
