October is Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Month, and this one matters deeply to us. 🚶🚲
Pedestrians and cyclists are among the most vulnerable people on Colorado roads, and the crashes we handle every day are a reminder of how quickly one moment of inattention can change a life. In Colorado, 76% of pedestrian fatalities occur in the dark, and with days getting shorter, that risk is rising right now.
If you drive, slow down, put the phone down, and remember that Colorado’s Three Foot Law requires drivers to give cyclists at least three feet of space when passing. If there is not enough room or oncoming traffic prevents a safe buffer, you must slow down and wait until it is safe to pass. If you walk or ride, use crosswalks, stay visible, and make eye contact with drivers before stepping into the road.
These are not just safety tips. They are the difference between a normal day and a life-altering one.
