The police report is usually the first document anyone looks at in a crash claim, and it carries more weight than people expect. It records the date, the location, the conditions, who the officer spoke to, and sometimes a diagram or a citation. It is not the final word on fault, and officers do get details wrong, but correcting a report afterward is much harder than getting it right at the scene. In Arizona you are required to notify law enforcement when a crash involves injury, death, or significant property damage. This is general information, not legal advice for a specific situation. If your report says something you disagree with, call us at (520) 222-2222.

-> Read your own report before an adjuster reads it back to you.

Can a vehicle owner be responsible for a crash even if they weren’t driving?
In some cases, yes.
Arizona negligent entrustment law may allow a vehicle owner to share responsibility when they knowingly allow someone to drive who is unsafe, unqualified, impaired, unlicensed, or otherwise unfit to operate the vehicle safely.
Examples can include handing the keys to someone with a suspended license, a history of reckless driving, or someone who is visibly intoxicated.
These cases are different from a typical car accident claim because the investigation may focus not only on what the driver did, but also on what the vehicle owner knew before handing over the keys.
If negligent entrustment may have played a role in your accident, Grabb & Durando can help you understand what parties may be responsible.

Does insurance reduce what the at-fault party owes after an accident? Not necessarily.
Arizona generally follows the collateral source rule, which means a negligent party usually cannot reduce their responsibility simply because your medical bills or other losses were paid by an independent source like health insurance or disability benefits.
That does not always mean you keep every dollar without adjustment. Insurance companies and benefit providers may have reimbursement or subrogation rights that can affect how a settlement is ultimately distributed.
The key distinction is that outside benefits may affect where settlement money goes, without automatically reducing the damages caused by the at-fault party.
If you have questions about how insurance benefits, liens, or reimbursement may affect an injury claim, Grabb & Durando can help you understand the process.

Who’s liable in an e-bike accident in Arizona?
In most cases, it comes down to who broke the rules of the road.
Arizona generally treats e-bikes like bicycles, which means riders are still expected to follow traffic laws, including stopping at signs and lights, yielding when required, and following local rules about where they can ride.
Depending on how the crash happened, responsibility could fall on the e-bike rider, a driver, or in some situations involving a minor, a parent or guardian.
E-bike claims can also become complicated because there may not be a traditional auto insurance policy involved.
If you were injured in an e-bike accident, Grabb & Durando can help you understand your options.

Referring someone to an injury attorney is a small act of trust, so it is worth knowing what to ask before you make the introduction.
Who will actually handle the file day to day, and who returns the phone calls. How the fee is structured, and what happens with case costs if the claim does not succeed.
None of those questions are rude to ask. A straight answer to all four tells you most of what you need to know about how that office runs.
This is general information, not legal advice for a specific situation. We will answer all four for anyone you send our way, at (520) 222-2222.

People put off asking about a dog bite because the owner is a neighbor, a friend, or family. Worth knowing: these claims commonly go through the owner's homeowner's or renter's policy rather than out of their own pocket. For a lot of people that changes how the whole conversation feels. This is general information, not legal advice for a specific situation. Questions after a bite: (520) 222-2222.
