One of the most common questions we get: Do you have to open the door if ICE knocks?
The answer is no — and knowing this could change everything.
YOUR RIGHTS when ICE comes to your door:
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO OPEN THE DOOR. ICE officers cannot enter your home without a judicial warrant signed by a judge. Ask them to slide it under the door or hold it up to the window.
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT. You do not have to answer questions about where you were born, your immigration status, or anyone else in the home.
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SPEAK TO AN ATTORNEY. Say clearly: "I want to speak to an attorney before answering any questions."
DON'T SIGN ANYTHING. Do not sign any documents without speaking to a lawyer first.
Immigration encounters are frightening. But you have rights — and knowing them matters.

NO FIRME NADA.
