New Jersey's county vocational-technical high schools set a new record with 367 members of the Class of 2026 earning an associate degree before their high school graduation.

This milestone reflects the opportunities available to NJ high schoolers to earn college credits while enrolled in focused career programs. The growth is thanks to increased awareness and evolving partnerships between county vocational-technical schools and institutions of higher education, especially NJ's Community Colleges.

Atlantic County Institute of Technology junior Andrew Merlock is taking his passion for aviation to new heights. Selected for the prestigious Air Force Junior ROTC Flight Academy, he will spend the summer working toward his private pilot certification while gaining valuable leadership and flight experience.

His selection highlights ACIT’s expanding role in preparing students for aviation and aerospace careers through hands-on, industry-connected learning.

Students at Monmouth County Vocational School District's Academy of Law and Public Safety- MCVSD are adding emergency dispatch skills to their portfolios thanks to a course offered in partnership with the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office.
The ALPS students are not only expanding their options for a career in public safety, but they are training to fulfill a community need by playing an important role in an emergency response.

Atlantic County Institute of Technology recently completed construction on an expansion project that received the largest investment from the state through the Securing Our Children's Future Bond Act.

And for Cape May County Technical School District, it did. Congratulations to this year’s Cook-Off champions, who earned the title for the second year in a row and once again took home the People’s Choice Award!
Students from all participating schools deserve recognition for their hard work, creativity and dedication throughout the competition. They served up culinary skills with a side of professionalism.

In honor of National Technology Day, we’re highlighting how New Jersey county vocational-technical schools are preparing students for careers in artificial intelligence, robotics, and other emerging technologies.

At Mercer County Technical Schools, students are exploring AI and robotics through a new three-course pathway developed in partnership with The College of New Jersey. Middlesex County Magnet Schools are expanding AI-focused career pathways that connect classroom learning with high-demand workforce skills. Burlington County Institute of Technology has a districtwide AI Task Force to help shape the future of AI education across its programs.

Today, we celebrate the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers who are learning today to lead tomorrow.
