I was saddened to learn my long time client and friend, Peter “Ross” Rawlinson passed away suddenly other day. He was owner of Jaguar Specialists in Fallsington PA. This makes the 2nd close client / friend in last 6 months. Thoughts go out to you Mark and Ross. Having experienced my own heart issues….. if you popping Tums it may not be heartburn. Get checked!!!

Most of us has heard of the "Big, Beautiful Bill" President Trump is pressing to get passed in Congress. Here is a brief summary of key items:

Tax revisions include increasing the standard deduction for most people, increasing the SALT limitation for most households, increased deduction for seniors and locking in child tax credit. If your household makes less than $500,000 per year, these changes should result in lowering of taxes.

Increased spending on border protection and requiring a social security number to get various tax credits that previously were available to undocumented taxpayers. ( self explanatory as to target audience )

Closer supervision of the SNAP program, shifting some responsibility to states but basically requiring able bodied participants to seek employment.

Increase in defense spending.

There is much more included in the bill if you are interested. I am not an economist but cutting taxes ( a good thing) while increasing areas of spending that cannot be offset by spending cuts in other areas will most likely result in more government debt. When President Trump calls for our FED chair, J Powell, to lower interest rates ( crudely calling him out) it would help reduce our deficit since the USA pays interest on $37,039,000,000,000 annually! Economic policy (monetary and fiscal) is complicated. Adjusting one item can impact several other sectors. If you paying 28% interest on your credit cards and want to lower your rate to 10%, obviously it will save you money but there may be less banks willing to give you credit at 10% than 28%! As I said, it is complicated

Tax refund advance season started January 2nd and we have serviced around 75 clients releasing advances totaling approximately $150,000. And the IRS does not officially open until the week of January 27! Need money now? We are open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 8am to 2pm by appointment and Wednesday is "walk in Wednesday" no appointments required. If you have a business formed as a corporation or LLC, ask about the mandatory BOI filing required by financial crimes area of Federal Government.
