Your overhead position starts in your MID-BACK, not your shoulders. 🧠

If your thoracic spine can’t extend, your body borrows motion from your low back, neck, and the front of your shoulder — and that’s where the aches show up.

Quick self-check: sit against a wall and reach overhead. If your ribs flare or your back peels off the wall before your hands touch, your thoracic spine needs some love.

Comment “OVERHEAD” for 3 of my favorite exercise exercises to get you started on the path to better overhead health.

Your body is resilient.

No movement is inherently bad for you. How you do things and overall capacity are important!

You are not your imaging. Read that again.

Shoulder pain isn’t just “part of training.”

We see this all the time with our active adults:
Pain during pull-ups
Pain during overhead presses
Pain during push-ups

Most of the time, it comes down to mobility limitations, movement coordination or strength issues, or training-load errors.

Fix the root problem, and your shoulders will thank you.

Save this for your next upper-body day, and send it to a friend who’s always complaining about their shoulders.

If you’ve ever been to PT with us, you know we take your recovery seriously…

but we also know movement (and rehab) doesn’t always go perfectly.

Sometimes you skip the cool-down. Or always lol.
Sometimes you “forget” your home exercises.
Sometimes you swear you did them… but your PT has questions. 👀

And honestly? That’s okay. It’s part of the process. It’s part of being human.

Healing, getting stronger, and learning how to move better isn’t about being perfect; it’s about showing up, putting in the work, and laughing a little along the way.

So if you see yourself in these memes… just know we’ve seen it before. 😂

The worst thing many people do after an injury?

They stop moving completely.

Movement helps:
• circulation
• tissue healing
• strength retention
• mental health
• nervous system regulation

The key is modifying movement, not avoiding it.

If you’re unsure how to train around an injury, that’s exactly what I’m here for.

Comment below which movements you’re struggling to adjust, and I’ll help as many of you as I can!
