NEW: The Office of Inspector General (OIG) just made it harder to ignore a compliance risk that's been flying under the radar in the medical device industry. 🩼

In a new Advisory Opinion, the OIG found that one company's royalty payment arrangement with physician consultants crossed the line under the Anti-Kickback Statute, and the reasoning has broader implications worth paying attention to.

In their latest for The National Law Review, attorneys Edgar Bueno and Matt Wilmot break down what the opinion says, why it matters, and what medical device companies and physician consultants should be doing about it now.

We're proud to congratulate our own Freddy Stroud on graduating from the Leadership Glynn County Class of 2026!

Leadership Glynn is an immersive, 8-month leadership development program hosted by the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce that gives rising community leaders an inside look at how the region works, from local government and business to the forces that shape the Golden Isles' future.

Freddy is an associate in our real estate and estate planning groups, and we couldn't be prouder to see him investing in the community he serves every day.

Congratulations, Freddy!

Shoutout to Stuart Wallace, an associate in our real estate practice, who recently teamed up with Northwestern Mutual to compete in the United Way of the Coastal Empire - Young Leaders Kickball Tournament.

The best part? Their team came home champions! 🥇

We're proud to see him out in the community representing HunterMaclean and supporting the great work the United Way does for our region.

Congrats, Stuart, and well done to the whole team!

We’re proud to be members of a chamber that reflects just how much is happening on the Georgia coast. Congrats to the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce on a well-deserved honor!

We're proud to share that the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce has earned a Five Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, an honor achieved by fewer than 1% of chambers nationwide.

We were honored to officially receive this distinction yesterday from Moore Hallmark, Vice President and Managing Director of Regional Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

This achievement was made possible through the dedication of our staff and Board of Directors. While we are honored to receive this recognition, it ultimately reflects the strength of the Golden Isles community and our shared commitment to supporting local business and driving regional growth.

On May 15, HunterMaclean partner Wade Herring took the stage at the 15th annual TEDxSavannah event as one of this year's featured speakers, and we couldn't be more proud to see him represent our firm and our community in that way.

Held on Georgia Southern University's Armstrong Campus, TEDxSavannah is part of the global TED network, built around the idea that the right conversation, shared widely, can change how people think and act. TEDx events bring that spirit to communities around the world, and TEDxSavannah does that for our region, gathering leaders, thinkers, and innovators to share ideas worth spreading.

Wade's participation reflects the same values we try to bring to our work every day: thoughtful engagement, a commitment to Savannah, and a belief that good ideas matter.

Congratulations to Wade and to the entire TEDxSavannah team on a wonderful event!

There’s BIG NEWS for nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and anyone operating an APP-owned medical practice in Georgia. 🚨

The Georgia Composite Medical Board just issued new guidance that significantly changes what's allowed when it comes to physician supervision and compensation arrangements, and it affects medical clinics, med spas, wellness practices, and IV hydration businesses across the state.

Attorneys Matt Wilmot and Edgar Bueno break it all down in their latest piece for The National Law Review.

If you own or operate one of these businesses, or you're a physician participating in these arrangements, this is worth reading before you get a call you weren't expecting: https://shorturl.at/ywYX4

Last week, we were proud to support the Coastal Georgia Council, Scouting America's annual Golden Eagle Banquet, one of coastal Georgia's most celebrated events honoring community leaders who embody the values of service, character, and leadership that Scouting has championed for generations.

HunterMaclean partner and former Supreme Court of Georgia Chief Justice Michael Boggs served as this year's keynote speaker. Among other members of the firm was Sean Callahan, a partner in our real estate practice, who serves on the Council's executive board.

It's a privilege to support an organization doing such meaningful work for young people across our region. Congratulations to all of this year's honorees!

The regulatory landscape around healthcare M&A is shifting fast, and the tools traditionally used to manage risk aren't keeping up.

In their first piece for The National Law Review, HunterMaclean partners Matt Wilmot and Sam Seaman break down what buyers and sellers need to know right now, from the impact of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act on representations and warranties (R&W) insurance to the new category of liability that comes with acquiring AI-powered clinical tools.

🍴 FOOD FRENZY FOCUS: Tinsley Griffin Hill

We're closing out our “Food Frenzy Focus” series with a spotlight on Tinsley Griffin Hill, who served as our team captain for this year's Georgia Legal Food Frenzy.

Tinsley is an associate in our litigation practice group and has been a constant source of encouragement throughout the campaign, keeping the whole firm motivated and moving in the right direction.

As of 10:00 AM this morning, HunterMaclean has raised enough to provide nearly 18,300 meals for Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. That's something to be proud of!

The fundraiser link will remain open until midnight tonight! If you'd like to contribute to HunterMaclean's team total, you can do so here: https://shorturl.at/TsL1S.

Thank you, Tinsley, for your leadership and for helping us carry on this tradition of giving back!

🍴 FOOD FRENZY FOCUS: Will Hughes

Today’s “Food Frenzy Focus” goes to our 4th floor captain, Will Hughes!

Will is an associate in the firm’s real estate practice and has done a great job keeping his floor engaged and motivated throughout this year’s Georgia Legal Food Frenzy.

As of yesterday, the 4th Floor has raised enough to provide over 7,000 meals for Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. That's a fantastic result.

We're grateful to Will for stepping up and helping make it happen!
